Putting the King in Kingston - GearLog #2

Tomorrow is the day that the wonderful Drive Gears make their trek to Kingston. Here is a run-down of their progress

Gear Ratio Change

As a rookie team, the Windsor Qualifier was our first in-person qualifier. With the learning experiences, we have grown and realized some of the mistakes that we made. One of the important ones was the speed of our robot.

Since the change from 60:1s to 20:1s, our robot has gained the speed needed to be a versatile, quick and agile robot that will be challenging to our opponents.

Robot Overhaul

The new and improved style of our new robot has many more upgrades. Let's go through them.

1. Slides over extrusions

The new slide-based lift makes it lighter but it's also built already. This makes the lift lighter and easier to move which makes it more reliable and also allows us to have a second lift to make it stronger

2. Vertical Motors

We shifted our motors vertically so that our robot would have more space in the middle for our slides and lifts. We use gears that move the motors.

3. Odo

The use of odometry lets our driver utilize field-oriented movement which makes it easier for him as a driver. The movements are simpler for Connor to use.

Autonomous Development

From our last qualifier, our autonomous was in development. Now, our autonomous is able to put on one cone and park for optimal points. In the future, our cone movement will be increased and makes us get more points before the end of autonomous.
